Utahns line up for tickets
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah film buffs lined up by the thousands -- some before dawn -- to purchase tickets for the annual Sundance Film Festival.

Festival officials say nearly 3,500 Utahns registered on line for the time slots to buy tickets Saturday at locations in Salt Lake City and Park City.

Sundance senior ticketing and customer service manager Linda Pfafflin says locals are the festival's bread and butter. She says Utahns made up 43 percent of filmgoers in 2008.
The 2009 event begins Jan. 15. General ticket sales begin Jan. 12.

Utah Valley University professor Shannon Mussett arrived in Salt Lake City before sunrise and was first in line at the Trolley Square shopping center ticket booth.
Mussett says the festival is Utah's greatest cultural offering.
