Mexican faces deportation
POCATELLO -- A Mexican citizen pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine Monday, and will likely be deported to Mexico after his February sentencing.

Jose Alejo Ramirez was originally charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Pursuant to a plea agreement, Ramirez pleaded guilty with the aid of a court interpreter Monday to the lessened charge.

Sixth District Judge Peter D. McDermott set sentencing for Feb. 9. Ramirez admitted that he entered the United States illegally approximately two years ago. The Immigration and Naturalization Service has placed a hold on Ramirez, an indication that he will be sent back home after his sentencing.
