Child, 4, dies in van rollover
A 4-year-old Pocatello girl died Friday after the van she was a passenger in rolled over on Interstate 86 about eight miles east of the interchange with Interstate 84, according to the Idaho State Police.
Rose Marie Neihart, 4, was ejected from the van and died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. Police said Robert Rogers, also of Pocatello, was eastbound on I-86 in a 1986 Dodge Caravan at about 3:15 p.m. when he came across a rollover accident that had just occurred. He slowed in an attempt to stop and lost control of the van when changing lanes, causing it to roll once and come to rest in the median. Rogers was also injured in the accident and was taken to the Cassia Regional Medical Center, from which he was flown by air ambulance to Salt Lake City for treatment.
His condition wasn't immediately available. One woman and two male children, also passengers in the van, were treated and released at the scene. The crash is still under investigation.
