Rams star signs with ISU
kang@journalnet.com
POCATELLO -- Highland senior Breanne Van Every has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for Idaho State next year. Van Every, who has received recruiting letters and e-mails from schools like Texas, Colorado State, UNLV and San Francisco, ultimately chose Idaho State because the school offered her a full scholarship. The College of Idaho and Utah State also offered Van Every partial scholarships to play basketball, but Idaho State's offer was too attractive to pass up.
"It was a lot of stress making decisions and thinking about this and the pros and cons," Van Every said. "I'm just really relieved that I've finally made the decision, and I can look forward to the future." Van Every, one of the anchors on the Rams' front row, drew Idaho State coach Chad Teichert's attention because of her athleticism and versatility. Teichert envisions Van Every being able to fill in as either an outside hitter, right-side hitter or even a middle blocker.
Van Every represents the Bengals' only signing of the early signing period. Idaho State loses graduating seniors Brenda Cooper, a right-side hitter, and Blakely Peppinger, a setter, after this year. Teichert said he will look to reel in a setter with his last remaining scholarship during the late signing period. But Van Every's signing is a development Teichert said he felt optimistic about.
