Singer surprises retailer
POCATELLO — Country music star Joe Nichols didn’t come to the region last weekend just to take the stage at the Eastern Idaho State Fair.
He also didn’t just go to Blackfoot. Last Friday afternoon, Nichols stopped at the Sports Performance Center at 2209 Garrett Way to purchase a scooter. The store’s general manager, Bruce Ashby, said Nichols was good friends with fellow country singer Garth Brooks, who had also previously purchased a scooter.
“Him and Garth Brooks are good friends, and they were going to ride around Nashville with the scooters,” Ashby said. “(Nichols) is just a real nice guy. Him and his wife came in and wanted to try the machine.” Nichols ended up purchasing a 2009 Yamaha Zuma 125 for about $3,000.
There was, however, some disappointment. Ashby said his 13-year-old daughter was disappointed that he did not attempt to get an autograph from Nichols. Ashby said his entire family are country music fans.
“But I told her that I at least got his autograph on the sales receipt,” Ashby said. Article RatingReader CommentsSubmit a CommentCommenting RulesWe encourage your feedback and dialog. All comments are subject to deletion by our Web staff.
