Symphony sets first concert
The Idaho State Civic Symphony’s Total Concert Experience
Contact: Sue Parker (208) 234-1587 Pocatello, ID — The Idaho State Civic Symphony, locally known as The Symphony, is preparing for their first concert season with Music Director/Conductor Chung Park. Dr. Park and The Symphony Board of Directors have planned each concert so that our patrons will have a “Total Concert Experience”. Symphony performances have been moved to Friday evenings which will give our patrons the opportunity to have a date night out. We recommend starting the evening with dinner before the concert at one of our outstanding local restaurants. After dinner, there will be a pre-concert conversation about the evening’s music with the maestro in the Marshall Rotunda from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm. The discussion will be moderated by David Parry who is the President of the Board of Directors. The maestro will also take questions from the audience about the music.
At 7:00 pm, chamber ensembles made up of Symphony members will serenade concert goers from the Marshall Rotunda as they continue to arrive for the performance. Our principal harp, Laurie Orr and principal flute, Tiana Grise, will be the first ensemble to play at the October 3 concert. Future concerts will offer string quartets, wind quintets, brass quintets and the maestro may even team up with a player from The Symphony or a guest artist. At 7:25 pm and 7:28 pm a trumpet call will resound to announce that the concert is about to begin and that patrons should take their seats.
While at the Stephens Performing Arts Center, concert goers will be able to enjoy a glass of wine, beer or a soft drink, elegant desserts and chocolates during intermission while they enjoy the company of their fellow concertgoers. The concerts will be performed at the Stephens Performing Arts Center in the Jensen Grand Concert Hall with a start time of 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be obtained by calling 234-1587 or www.thesymphony.us.
