Community Cinema series begins
POCATELLO -- History buffs and documentary fans can get a peak at the legal plights of Vietnam War protesters, the origin of the Crips and Bloods or the stories of five women who engaged in combat action in Iraq.

The Independent Television Service will kick off its Community Cinema series Tuesday with a sneak preview of "Chicago 10" at Idaho State University's Bengal Movie Theater.

"Chicago 10" will be the first in a series of seven other sneak peaks that ITVS will offer as part of a joint effort with ISU to promote PBS' Independent Lens series. The PBS series, which are hosted by actor Terrence Howard, will eventually broadcast the full-length documentaries.
All of the documentaries, though, examine social issues throughout America and the rest of the world. During the Bengal Theater screenings, students and other viewers will be able to discuss the issue featured in the movie with either a guest speaker or panel.

"Chicago 10" is a Brett Morgan film that revisits the Vietnam War era protests and the 1968 Democratic National Convention using a mixture of animation and archived footage.
Morgan's film particularly focuses on the 1968 Chicago Conspiracy Trial, which involved seven defendants who went to court on charges related to protests in Chicago during the same year's Democratic convention.

Films that chronicle the origins of the Crips and Bloods and the stories of the first five women who engaged in Combat action in Iraq will be shown later in the series.
- ITVS and ISU will broadcast "Chicago 10" at the Bengal Movie Theater on Tuesday from 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. For more information on the series of films can go to www.itvs.org.
