Park City pollution on rise
PARK CITY, Utah (AP) -- Park City's pollution production has grown along with the resort town's booming population.
City officials hope to curb the carbon emissions before they get any worse. According to a new report, Park City's carbon emissions are about on the same level as cities of similar size and elevation. But that's not necessarily good. The city compared its 2007 carbon levels to its projected 1990 output. Over 17 years, the city grew by 79 percent and the carbon output went up 112 percent.
Park City hopes a few changes could cut emissions by 15 percent next year. The study looked only at municipal offices and programs. The next step will be a community-wide study, expected by next spring.
