School seeks business sponsor
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) _ School officials in Twin Falls are turning to local businesses to help offset the cost for a scoreboard and marquee for the city's new high school.
The decision to reach out to the private sector comes as federal rules are restricting the sales of soft drinks, and as a result losing sponsorship revenue and other benefits provided by soda makers. Canyon Ridge High School is set to open in 2009, is being paid for with a $49.7 million bond approved by voters in 2006 and is running over budget. The bond measure was slated to pay for five scoreboards and a marquee, ranging in price from $3,000 to $50,000.
Last week, the school principal Brady Dickinson sent a letter to the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce asking members to chip in to buy the items. Article RatingReader CommentsSubmit a CommentCommenting RulesWe encourage your feedback and dialog. All comments are subject to deletion by our Web staff.
