Block party benefits youth
POCATELLO — Caldwell Park was packed from corner to corner with revelers Saturday for a Bannock Youth Foundation block party.
The event, which served as a fundraiser, included a rock climbing wall, a bouncy castle for children to jump in, live music, face painting and plenty of treats. Bannock House and MK Place residents served hamburgers and hot dogs to earn money for trips to Ross Park, Lagoon amusement park near Salt Lake City and other outings. The fundraiser netted Bannock Youth Foundation $1,000, which was donated by local businesses and organizations. The block party was sponsored by KMGI 102.5 FM. “We went around town and asked for sponsors and people were more than happy to help out,” said Bill Lage, a marketing consultant for the classic rock radio station.
Lage said one local business, University Auto, chipped in $250. The hamburgers and hotdogs were donated by Ridley’s Market. Terry Fredrickson, shelter supervisor at MK Place, said the residents of both youth shelters deserve a fun outing or two.
“They’ve been working hard all day,” he said. “They’ve been drumming up business for us, too.” Fredrickson said the children walked around the block party recruiting customers.
