n The Simplot Games track camp will be held July 16 -18 in Pocatello. Olympians and coaches will lead the clinic. CYCLING n The Tour of Marsh Valley, open to any riders, will be held June 21 in and south of Pocatello. Entry costs $15 for adults, $10 for Idaho Cycling Enthusiasts club members, and riders younger than 18 are free. Riders can choose to pedal 26, 60 or 100 miles in the race. CROSS COUNTRY n Highland High School coaches are offering open practices for any eighth-grader or high school student interested in cross country. They will be held Monday through Friday starting June 16 at Alameda Middle School. They will run from 8 to 10 a.m. Participants need to bring a water bottle, a sports watch and running shoes. TENNIS n The Juniper Hills Country Club will play host to the Juniper Hills Open on June 19-22 in Pocatello. It will feature women's and men's events in various levels, and participants must be USTA members. Entry costs $20 for singles events and $18 each for doubles. Deadline to register is June 15. n The Magic Valley Tennis Association is hosting a tournament on June 27-29 in Twin Falls. Various levels in both singles and doubles can enter. Players must be USTA members. GOLF n Riverside Golf Course will host a father and son scramble starting at 8 a.m. June 21. Entry fee of $25 per team is due by June 18, and it covers lunch. Green fees are extra. No handicap necessary. Call the pro shop at 232-9515 to register.
n The Greater Pocatello Senior Center is hosting a benefit tournament on June 21. Cost is $20, which includes dinner. Tickets for just the dinner are available for $8, and all ages are welcome. Those interested should call the senior center at 233-1212 or stop by at 427 N. 6th St in Pocatello. n The junior league at Highland Golf Course started June 5 and will run for five weeks. It includes two golf lessons and three tournaments, as well as lunch on tournament days and a T-shirt. Cost is $50, and the league is open to children 5 to 17 years old. n Registration for the Preston Golf and Country Club's junior golf program is now open. The league runs through the summer and is held on Wednesday mornings. The program is available to all children ages 7 and up. It costs $40 for non-members and $25 for members. To register, call the pro shot at (208) 852-2408. n The Preston Golf and Country Club will be hosting the O Sherwin Webb 4-person Scramble Tournament on June 21. The entry fee is $45 for members and $55 for non-members. Any combination of handicaps may be on a team with the team flighted by the team handicap. Team handicaps calculated using 25 percent of the low handicap and 10 percent of the rest of the team. Players must have an established USGA handicap. Webb Motuary is adding $500 to the purse. SOCCER n Gate City Youth Soccer League coaches will host free summer street soccer pickup games through June and July, every Tuesday and Thursday at the NOP Fields. Games start at 7 p.m. n Pocatello High coaches will host high school girls' and boys' finishing camps June 16-20 at Wilcox Elementary School. The camp runs from 6 to 8 p.m. each night and costs $25. Deadline for the U11-U14 competitive teams is July 16 with a $20 late fee assessed. August 1 is the deadline for the U5-U12 recreational teams, but if you sign up before June 18, the GCYSL will knock off $5 from the cost. FOOTBALL n Highland High School football players and coaches are holding youth football camps June 9-11. The Grades 5-8 camp will be held on those days from 8:30 to 11 a.m. The Grades K-4 flag football camp runs from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The camp is non-contact, and campers will need cleats, shorts and a T-shirt.
