Sneddon announces candidacy
David Sneddon has announced that he is a candidate for the 2nd Congressional District and was recently endorsed by The Idaho Statesman. Sneddon defines himself as a Western Democrat with traditional Idaho values. Sneddon believes that strengthening Idaho's economy is priority number one. He believes that Idaho's economy must diversify by increasing its manufacturing base.
Sneddon is proud to call himself a fiscal conservative and a Blue Dog Democrat. Once elected, he vows to join the Congressional Blue Dog Caucus and work with the caucus to achieve a balanced budget. Sneddon has consistently stated that '' Congressional spending has run amuck and fiscal restraint is the order of the day.'' Sneddon has also proposed a way to control Congressional earmarks. He has calls for allocating 1.5% of the federal budget for ''no string'' state grants. Based on Sneddon's formula, Idaho's Congressional Caucus could collectively receive up to 336 million dollars, annually. Sneddon stated that he would use his grant funds to help rebuild Idaho's infrastructure and expand higher education programs. ''If we are going to convince companies to put down roots in Idaho, we must have an educated work force, to include the trades, and infrastructure that can move product to market.'' David Sneddon ran for the State Legislature (16-B) in 2000 and the United States Senate in 2002. In both races, Sneddon offered a number of innovative ideas to assist people in his districts. Sneddon holds a BA in Political Science from Boise State University, and is active in his community as a board member of a homeowners association and likes to coach YMCA basketball with his children.
David Sneddon has lived in Soda Springs and Boise for a combined total of 31 years. He and his wife have been married for 23 years and they have two middle school children. His wife is a Registered Nurse, his son plays lacrosse, and his daughter has a passion for horses and plays the cello in the Boise Middle School honors orchestra.
