Poison to play Blackfoot
BLACKFOOT - The musical entertainment for the coming 2008 Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot has been announced and it carries memories of the 1980s.

The glam metal band Poison will grace the stage on Thursday, Sept. 4, and country acts Joe Nichols and Jason Michael Carroll will perform on Friday, Sept. 5.

Tickets go on sale for both acts on June 18.
Poison gained popularity with the 1986 album ''Look What the Cat Dragged In'' which featured the hit single ''Talk Dirty to Me.'' The group's second album, ''Open Up and Say . . . Ah!'' was released in 1988 and featured what became one of the group's biggest hits, ''Every Rose Has Its Thorn.''

Although the band broke up in 1991, they reunited in 1998 and all four original members are currently touring. Singer Bret Michaels also recently starred in the VH1 reality shows ''Rock of Love'' and ''Rock of Love II.''
Joe Nichols is known for his 2002 album ''Man with a Memory'' and song ''The Impossible.'' His latest album, ''Real Things,'' reached the number two spot on the U.S. country chart.

Jason Michael Carroll was discovered at a local talent competition in 2004. His debut single ''Alyssa Lies'' reached number five on the U.S. country chart in 2006. His 2007 album, ''Waitin' in the Country,'' achieved Gold Record status.
