Seeking Senate seat
FORT HALL - United States Senate candidate David J. Archuleta, 52, of Fort Hall, announced Friday he filed his declaration of candidacy with the Idaho Secretary of State's Office.
Archuleta announced his intentions at the First Nations Conference at Boise State University. ''I am honored to be here with you to discuss leadership, because it's a special day for me since I am announcing I am running for the United States Senate,'' he said. Archuleta said he was concerned about rising energy prices, causing real harm to those on fixed incomes, the war in Iraq and the financial crisis our country is facing.
''These are real issues, affecting real people. When I was 18 I joined the Navy and went to war. War is real and real people die and are maimed for life. I am against this war because we are fighting the wrong war. We should be fighting the folks who attacked us,'' Archuleta said. Archuleta, who is a member of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, worked as a news reporter for 15 years, and as chief prosecutor and associate judge for the tribes.
He currently is in private practice as an independent tribal court advocate. Article RatingReader CommentsSubmit a CommentCommenting RulesWe encourage your feedback and dialog. All comments are subject to deletion by our Web staff.
