Lewd conduct case gets trial
POCATELLO - A judge ruled Wednesday there is sufficient evidence to try an 87-year-old Pocatello man in Sixth District Court for allegedly engaging in lewd conduct with a 9-year-old girl.

Rulon D. Whitehead faces up to life in prison and up to a $50,000 fine if convicted of lewd conduct with a minor child under 16, said Deputy Prosecuting Attorney JaNiece Price.

Magistrate Judge Gaylen Box ruled Whitehead should be bound over to district court following a preliminary hearing in which prosecutors called the alleged victim, her father and the investigating officer, Sgt. Paul Manning, to testify.
Whitehead's attorney, Aaron Thompson, called the 6-yearold sister of the alleged victim to the stand.

Price said Whitehead, who allegedly engaged in sexual contact with the girl on multiple occasions during the months of July and August, had no previous criminal record.
