A.F. woman enjoys acting
AMERICAN FALLS — Tammy Ramsey is no stranger to the stage and screen.
The 41-year-old has been acting in plays since the early age of 11, she was a runway model for a bridal shop in high school and she appeared in no less than 52 Cole Chevrolet commercials. She says her life has been filled with excitement. “I’ve accomplished everything I’ve set out to do in life, so I truly have no regrets and have had quite a few astonishing moments,” Ramsey said.
Born in Virginia Beach, Va., she moved to Idaho 16 years ago and has lived in American Falls for the last 10, running a ranch with her husband, Kevin. But in her free time, she stays active in the theater. Ramsey volunteers as a member of the American Falls Theatre Guild.
She works on plays in the city’s Little Theater, but much of her time is spent aiding middle school productions. She said theater and her role as a rancher don’t seem to mix, but she doesn’t mind.
“There’s nothing like pulling a calf and then running to play practice,” she said. She has acted in productions of “Annie” and “Steel Magnolias” with the Guild.
But she has done much more choreographing and directing for various productions at William Thomas Middle School in American Falls. “It’s just been a lot of fun,” she said. “We’re really blessed to have so much talent in American Falls and Pocatello.”
Ramsey also enjoys horseback riding, scrapbooking and writing. She has published two poems and is currently writing her first children’s book.
She and her husband have three children, TraChelle, 19, Ashley, 16, and James, 7, who have all been in productions she has helped with. In addition, Ramsey has a hand in several upcoming productions, as well.
“The Sound of Music,” a Theatre Guild production, will play at The Little Theater Feb. 16, 17, 19, 23 and 24 at 7 p.m. “Dracula,” put on by the middle school, will play at American Falls High School Auditorium Feb. 15-17 at 7 p.m.
