Small aircraft causes stir
POCATELLO — Reports of a small aircraft experiencing engine problem and looking for someplace to land Tuesday turned out to be a false alarm, said Pocatello Regional Airport manager Len Nelson.
“We were notified and were standing by with crash crews, but the plane ended up landing somewhere else safely,” he said. “They probably landed in Blackfoot or Downey.” Nelson said firefighters are stationed at the airport to provide quick response in emergency situations. David Gates, duty chief for the Pocatello Fire Department said two fire engines and an ambulance responded to assist the three man Rescue 4 crew.
“The initial reports were that a small aircraft was having engine problems,” Gates said. “We were almost to the airport when we were notified that the plane had landed safely.” He said the fire department provides ambulance support for the airport crash crew in the event of a plane crash.
Two passengers were aboard the unknown craft and Nelson said he did not where the plane was at when it called in the alert. Article RatingReader CommentsSubmit a CommentCommenting RulesWe encourage your feedback and dialog. All comments are subject to deletion by our Web staff.
